Minecraft has reached 100 million registered PC users, creator and Mojang founder Markus ‘Notch’ Persson has announced.

That figure accounts for people who have signed up for basic Minecraft accounts, which must be created before downloading the demo from the official Mojang site.

Persson added that the game has attained a “14.3 per cent conversion rate to paid accounts”, which means that of those 100 million users, approximately 14.3 million went on to purchase the full game.

Since its release in November 2011, Mojang’s virtual construction kit has been continuously accumulating huge sales. The Swedish developer revealed that the game had sold 14 million copies by 3 February.

Minecraft  arrived on PS3 in December  and quickly shifted  over one million copies  by the end of January.

The company also disclosed sales of the Xbox 360 version which now stand at 10 million.
