Microsoft launches experimental Home Team application

Microsoft has a launched a new application designed to help you find local services such as plumbers, electricians and even legal services.

The app comes from internal developer Microsoft Garage who specialise in experimental apps that may or may not make it to wider release. It focuses on finding local services through word-of-mouth rather than professional reviews. After integrating with your Facebook account and Phone Book, it pulls in information of relevant services nearby and builds a network of contacts within the application.

The design is great and it has a lot of potential, though the focus on needing others to download the app means it’s painfully bare at the time of writing. In its current state, the app is nothing more than a search engine for local services.

Still, it’s an interesting effort from Microsoft.
