Lenovo has always been known for making some pretty solid devices at a low price point, and the S5000 is no different, offering you 7-inch tablet for just â¬200 ( £168).
The 7-inch display isn’t exactly high-end, with a resolution of just 1280×800, but the screen does have good viewing angles as well as being quite sharp — but don’t go expecting too much from it, it’s less than full HD, which is what we always like to see on a tablet.
One thing that S5000 does have going for it is its ability to be incredibly slim and lightweight, at 7.9mm thick it’s thinner than the Nexus 7 from Asus, and is also lighter at 246g.
There’s a quad-core MediaTek processor on-board, clocked at 1.2GHz, but unfortunately it has only a single GB of RAM, meaning this device isn’t exactly comparable to the Nexus 7 spec wise.
Lenovo does promise up to eight hours of use from a single charge on the 3540mAh battery, although we’ll have to wait for our review unit until we put those claims to the test.
On the rear of the device you’ll find a 5-megapixel camera, whilst there’s also a 1.6-megapixel camera on the front.
If you like lots of ports, then the S5000 will likely disappoint you as we could only find a micro USB port and a 3.5mm headphone jack — which means those of you hoping for HDMI will be disappointed.
As said before, the device will go on sale for â¬200, which is around £168, and should start shipping in November.
