Kirby gets his dues with a pink and white Nintendo 2DS set for Europe this May

Kirby may well be one of Nintendo’s best loved original characters, but it’s easy to see how he might be a little under-appreciated. It’s a good thing then that Nintendo are rectifying that, with a Kirby-coloured Nintendo 2DS to be released this May.

The console will be go on sale on May 16th, and is a European exclusive. This coincides with Kirby: Triple Deluxe, an all-new 2DS and 3DS Kirby exclusive to be released on the same day.

The device will be coloured in Kirby’s unmistakable pink hue, with a white back. The 2DS was released last October as a cut-price version of the 3DS, which sacrifices 3D capability as well as clamshell design, in favour of a tablet/slab setup. This new pink colour scheme probably won’t help it look any less like a Fisher-Price toy, but at least it’ll be a pretty one. It should also be noted that this is  not a ‘Kirby Edition’ of the console – you’re going to have to buy the handheld and the game separately.
