Freshly leaked blueprints of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus reveal no headphone jack and surprise features for the iPhone 7 Plus.

The blueprints were sourced by uSwitch and given to Steve Hemmerstoffer AKA @OnLeaks, by Apple subcontractor Catcher Technology, making this leak worthy of serious consideration. Hemmerstoffer has a great reputation for providing leaks on the latest handsets, having provided accurate pictures of the HTC 10 before its official announcement.

Provided the renders we see before us are accurate too, we’re seeing the omission of 3.5mm headphone jack. It’s looking like iPhone fans who want to upgrade, will have to look at wireless earphones as well. There has also been speculations that Apple will make the lightning port the new headphone jack. Which would be an amazing innovation that would free up more space for more features, but force a lot of people to abandon their expensive headphones.

A true upgrade from Apple?

Apple has a repetitive pattern when it comes to releasing new iPhones. The ‘S’ variants are always a minor upgrade from its predecessors, offering improved performance and camera. Currently we’re on the iPhone 6s so it’s time for something awe-inspiring from Tim Cook and co.

The leaked renders are showing us Apple are changing things up considerably. The iPhone 7 Plus will differ from the iPhone 7, not just in size as Apple will be adopting a dual-camera system for the Plus, just like the Huawei P9 and LG G5.

The differences don’t stop there. Smart connectors are also seen on the iPhone 7 Plus, making it possible to connect to more accessories such as a keyboard. It gives us the impression that Apple has designed the iPad Pro and iPhone 7 with the same design language. Could we be seeing a power house in the iPhone 7 Plus?

What isn’t being changed too much is the dimensions of both iPhones. The iPhone 7 measures up to 138.30 x 67.12 x 7.1mm and 158.22 x 77.94 x 7.3mm for the iPhone 7 Plus.
