Yet another wearable from a huge tech outfit made its debut at this year’s CES. This time it’s the Intel smartwatch, which the company revealed at its press conference.

Interestingly, the device isn’t dependent on a smartphone to work. What it had to show on-stage was only a prototype but it did display the watch’s own connectivity and geofencing for location-based notices.

CEO Brian Krzanich summed up a wearable-focused presentation by saying: “Wearables are not everywhere today because they aren’t yet solving real problems and they aren’t yet integrated with our lifestyles. We’re focused on addressing this engineering innovation challenge.”

Will Intel be leading the way in this growing market space? The company didn’t have much else to say about its new Intel smartwatch, but we hope to see more soon.
