Iberia passengers can now access their boarding pass through their Samsung Gear 2 smartwatch

Clearly not content to be outdone by main competitor Pebble, Samsung has added a nifty new feature to its Gear 2 smartwatch: you can now use it for displaying your boarding pass.

So far this feature is only available in collaboration with Spanish airline Iberia, but its hard to imagine other carriers won’t want to get in on the act. If you happen to be a frequent flier with Iberia, or perhaps have a holiday to the Costa del Sol coming up, then all you need to do is download the Iberia Android app from the Google Play Store. Its latest update allows it to synchronise with your Samsung Gear 2. From there, you can magically send your boarding pass over to your Gear in the form of a QR code. Then, simply hold it over the requisite airport scanner and you’re good to go.

It’s a great innovation from Iberia – let’s just hope that they have enough passengers with both a Gear 2-compatible device and a Gear 2 itself to warrant its application.
