Huawei will launch its Ascend P2 in the United Kingdom from June, which it says is its most highly specced phone to date.

Measuring in at 8.4mm thick with a respectable 4.7 inch LCD screen covered by Gorilla Glass 2.0, the device targeted the higher end of the market, device UK and Ireland executive vice president Mark Mitchinson said.

“The Ascend P2 is built to enable next-generation 4G speeds so users can keep pace with the very latest technologies from their network providers and access and uploadmobile content as fast as possible.”

What Mobile got a hands on look at Mobile World Congress, where we reported the price tag was    Ã¢€š¬399, with no UK price at the time.

There certainly seems to be an emphasis on network speed; Huawei say the Ascend P2 would be compatible with Category 4 LTE networks, the first smartphone do so by June.

The breakdown

The P2 will pack a 1.5GHz quad core processor with 1 GB RAM, a 2420mAh battery, and a huge 13MP rear facing HDR camera with 1.3MP front facing camera.

The screen resolution is 1920 x 1080 pixels and the phone will measure 36.2 by 66.7 mm, weighing in at 122g.

It will run Huawei’s Emotion user interface on top of Android 4.1 and internal storage will be 16GB.

It will also feature sensitive touch screen features, meaning the screen is usable while wearing gloves.
