Honor’s 5x phablet is coming to the UK – but there are a few key differences to the version released stateside and in Asia.

The UK version comes with an updated Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 processor, compared with the 615 found on other versions.

It is still made from aluminium material which it claims will not warm up even for those using it for hard core gaming. Honor even tried using a chainsaw on the phone to prove its strength, sending sparks across the stage at the launch event in Munich.

Key features include enhanced fingerprint recognition security, featured on the back of the device – comparable to the Huawei Mate S launched at IFA way back in September.

In addition to security, the finger print recognition function can be used to access and to select “your favourite” apps, such as Facebook or Instagram using. Users can assign a different finger to each app enabling instant access.

Other features include dual sim compatibility plus a third slot for MicroSD card.

It has a 5.5 inch HD screen, 3,000mAh battery providing battery life of more than a day.

It packs 2GB Ram, 13 megapixel rear camera and five megapixel front sensor providing “wonderful quality”. Storage is up to 120GB of additional memory.

The device is now on sale for £189.99 RRP (‚¬229), or £20 off including a £10 voucher when purchased via the online Honor V Mall. It is available in gold, silver and grey.

It will also be available through Amazon in the UK and will also go on sale through Three from February 12.
