Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows pt. 2 game review

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows pt.2 is a strange game in many ways. For one, it’s Gameloft and not EA Mobile behind this latest title, despite the latter having been the driving force behind all previous Potter games.

The transition to arch-rivals Gameloft hasn’t lost any of the strong presentation the series is famed for on Java, but it has lost a little of its magic. The French publisher has had to opt for a far more action-based title this time around, thanks in no small part to the plot itself, which means pt.2 lacks the variety and clever pacing of the original game.

The plot is absolute gibberish to anyone who hasn’t memorised the books, so it’s only really something that fans will enjoy. Even then, the combat’s reliance on backing away and auto-firing doesn’t exactly thrill.

As a movie tie-in goes, it’s well made. But only the most committed Potter fan will get much out of it.
