Hands-on: Lenovo Yoga 2, it’s leaner and meaner

We loved the Lenovo Yoga 11s in our review, but it’s no longer the king of the castle anymore, thanks to the updated Yoga 2 Pro, which comes with our biggest ask — a full HD display.

It’s not just full HD though, with the resolution coming in at 3200×1800, bringing it up there with the Retina MacBook Pro and the Chromebook Pixel — two devices applauded for their high-res screens.

Our first moments with the Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro were dominated by the incredibly bright and sharp display too, it quite frankly blew us away, and a notable improvement over the dispapointing 1600×900 resolution on the original Yoga.

What’s more is the fact that Lenovo has managed to pack in this incredibly display whilst also making it slightly thinner and lighter, at 15.5mm thick and weighing just 1.5kg.

One disappointing compromise though is the fact that Lenovo has shrunk the HDMI port to a micro HDMI port — meaning you may have to go and buy a new cable in order to connect it to your HD TV or monitor.

You will be getting performance still though, with Haswell processors all on-board, offering superior battery life over the previous generation of Intel processors.

Those of you who choose to purchase a Yoga will get an option of processors, with Intel Core i3, i5 and i7s all on the table.

Like the old Yoga, you’ll still be able to flip the device back 360 degrees also, which means unlike the Flex 15, you can still use this as a tablet — if you’re into that sort of thing.

The IdeaPad Yoga 2 will start shipping in October starting at $1099.
