Google Plus account photos coming to Android handsets next year

Anyone with a Google Plus account will know that you can upload a picture to represent your account. It could be of your lovely face, it could be of someone else’s lovely face. Probably best to leave it at your face, though.

Anyway, that small thumbnail showing the picture is soon heading to Android handsets. Early next year Google Plus account profile pictures will be coming to the caller ID settings. You’ll be able to see a picture of the person you’re calling. Not exactly revolutionary, but the integration is appreciated.

Privacy issues, you say? You need to have shared a profile image and mobile number previously in account settings for it all to work, so don’t worry if you don’t want anything displayed.

The update will arrive on KitKat 4.4 early next year.
