Google decided to treat itself to a company earlier this week, buying ip Nest Labs for some $3.2 billion.

Nest is behind such products as the Nest Learning Thermostat and Protect smoke detector. Despite being purchased by the search engine overlord, the company will still remain independent. Google expects the sale to close in the next few months.

Google hasn’t revealed its intentions for the company, although we’d certainly like to see Google’s tech integrated into Nest’s own.
