First images of Firefox OS 2.0 are revealed, looks an awful lot like iOS 7

Firefox may be a pretty popular browser, but as a mobile operating system it’s pretty fair to say that it hasn’t hit the mark just yet. You can’t accuse the Mozilla guys of not trying though, as images of their first major redesign have just been revealed.

All in all it looks pretty good, something most people could surely agree on. Essentially, it looks a lot like iOS 7 – again, something widely regarded as being pretty desirable. It’s very flat, very rounded, and with lots of nice mild, soothing colours.

Of course the problem has never been the aesthetics, it’s actually getting  a half-decent device to run it on. So far it’s supported on handsets from Alcatel One Touch, ZTE, LG and Huawei – all fairly well known brands, but hardly what’s needed to take Firefox OS to the next level. Perhaps what’s more important is how horrible all of those devices are from a technical standpoint. Could there be a market out there for a high-end Firefox phone?

Version 2.0 is officially released in a couple of months, around the same time that the next Alcatel One Touch and ZTE handsets are released, so we can hopefully see it in action then.
