First Apple Watch deliveries made: Some customers face delayed delivery times

The Apple Watch is finally being shipped off to those lucky enough to get a pre-order. Anyone attempting to buy Apple’s new smart wearable on the high street may be left sorely disappointed.

Pre-orders for the Apple Watch become available on April 10, but the first batch sold out within hours and many customers now have to wait over a month before they can slap one on their wrists.

Those who were quick enough to place orders will get their Apple Watch today, but others who aren’t so fortunate will have to wait until the next batch has been made.

Apple said it is working hard to meet the demand as quickly as possible, and that Apple Watch pre-orders will be with many customers sooner than expected.

An Apple spokeswoman told BuzzFeed: “We’re happy to be updating many customers today with the news that their Apple Watch will arrive sooner than expected.

“Our team is working to fill orders as quickly as possible based on the available supply and the order in which they were received. We know many customers are still facing long lead times and we appreciate their patience.”

The Apple Watch won’t be available to buy on the high street, whilst no Apple Stores will be selling the product throughout May.

If you’re interested in an Apple Watch, you can go into an Apple Store to try one on, but staff will tell you to order one online either in-store or at home.

Apple Watch boutique launches

Fashion boutiques in London, Tokyo, Los Angeles, Berlin, Milan and Paris are having in-store launches for the device today (Apr 24).

Dover Street Market in London and Beijing, Maxfield in LA, Colette in Paris, 10 Corso Como in Milan and the Corner in Berlin are the included boutiques.

Stocks are very limited, so anyone wanting to buy an Apple Watch in-store must reserve beforehand.

Dover Street Market has reportedly sold out of the gold Apple Watch Edition and its supply of 1,000 watches have been split between its London and Beijing branches.

Prices for the Apple Watch “Sport” start from £299, whilst the “Standard” costs £479. The “Edition” watches start from £8,000 and can cost upwards of £13,500.
