Final Fantasy VII won’t be on iOS or Android for years

If you’re a big fan of Final Fantasy VII, then you may have to wait to relive the experience on your Android or iOS device, as Square Enix producer Takashi Tokita says it is “years” away. The reasoning behind the massive delay is because of the sheer size of Final Fantasy VII, which would take up too much space on a mobile device, and could even exceed the App Store’s two gigabyte maximum.

With Final Fantasy VI’s impending release on iOS, Tokita has hinted at the possibility of remaking Final Fantasy VII if all went well, after all Final Fantasy VII was an excellently received game.

Square Enix has said in the past that it is unwilling to remake the classic game until another game in the franchise surpasses its popularity, preferring to look forward rather than back.
