3 has already hinted that it may be selling the iPhone in early 2010, while we’ve also heard similar rumours that T-Mobile are testing the device for possible inclusion in the portfolio.
Meanwhile, Tesco has surprised everyone by announcing that it too will be stocking the iPhone 3G and 3GS models – on prepay and contract – as early as December, in time for Christmas.
Although the on-sale date isn’t confirmed, it would seem rather likely that Tesco would want to get this phone into its stores (and online via Tesco Direct) in time for Christmas.
Details of pricing isn’t known at this time – but Apple impose quite strict regulations on pricing. However, Tesco Mobile traditionally offers extra incentives such as extra Tesco Clubcard points and may use such deals to offer better value for money.
Tesco Mobile operates on the O2 network. O2 itself used Twitter to say “Great news that our joint venture Tesco Mobile will be selling the iPhone too!”.
