Even Tizen is beating BlackBerry OS now

A fresh analytics report has revealed that BlackBerry has slipped to fifth place in the overall mobile OS market.

We all knew BlackBerry was pretty much dead but this could be the final nail in the coffin. According to Strategy Analytics, the company has now lost its fourth place spot to Tizen OS, putting it even further down the pegging order. To put this into perspective, Microsoft only controls a few percent of the overall market and the rest can’t even muster one, which is pretty depressing.

Samsung has enjoyed quite a large install base with Tizen mainly thanks to the large number of devices which they’ve quietly snuck it into. The new Samsung Gear S2, Samsung Z-series smartphones and plenty of entry-level devices all utilise the OS. It probably helps that the overall design language isn’t that much different from Android.

TL;DR… It’s still a two horse race.
