Curved LG handset confirmed by company

Okay, maybe this week won’t just be about Samsung’s curved phone. It would seem the curved LG handset has been confirmed to be in development for a release next month.

Reuters, citing sources familiar with the matter, says that the company is indeed working on its own curved offering. Apparently the way in which this phone curves is different to the way in which Samsung’s one will . The Samsung Galaxy Round, as it’s rumoured to be named, will bend at either side of the screen, while the LG G Flex (another rumoured name) will curve from top to bottom on its six inch display.

Both companies have already experimented with these types of displays, both in phones and TV sets. We’re still a fair way off from truly bendable handsets, but this is a step in the right direction, and the increased protection to the phone’s screen is quite a bonus. The curved LG handset would be launching just behind Samsung’s offering.
