Cheaper iMac inbound next year?

It’s easy to talk about success when it comes to Apple – both the iPhone and iPad have sold incredibly well for years. But that company’s Macs don’t quite see the same popularity. It’s fair to say that sales have been behind a bit in recent years. A cheaper iMac could bring about and end to that.

An industry analyst is suggesting that the company will combat this with a range of budget-priced devices. KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts that it’s specifically, the iMac that will see its price slashed in 2014.

Right now a new model of Apple’s all-in-one desktop PC will set you back around £1149. When stacked up to some of its competition, that’s a hefty price tag. It’s thought that this has hurt sales of the iMac, that saw its last refresh in late 2012. Kuo suggests that a cheaper iMac cost could boost sales between 10 to 20 percent.

If true then we doubt an announcement would come at the Apple event next week, as the distance between announcement and release would be too long.
