Pre-orders are now available for the new Blackberry Priv exclusively from Carphone Warehouse.
Blackberry’s first Android device will retail starting from £580 for a sim-free device, and £49 per month on contract. The Priv features a curved screen with a hidden slide-out keyboard, keeping the Blackberry identity.
The new smartphone will also feature a 5.4-inch screen, which boasts 504 pixels per inch, well above the smartphone average of 300 pixels per inch. Apple’s iPhone 6s has 326 pixels per inch and the Samsung Galaxy S6 (and S6 Edge) has 577 pixels per inch. The Priv stretches to 7.2 inches when extended and revealing the keyboard.
Keeping things running is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 808, 3GB of ram and a storage capacity of 32GB. The Snapper is 18 megapixels with the front facing camera weighing in with 2 megapixels.
The Priv might be Blackberry’s last hurrah in the smartphone market as the company has been facing difficulties financially due to poor sales and waning interests. It remains to be seen whether the Priv will be a success and Blackberry staying in the market.
