The ZTE Axon 7 Mini could be on the cards as a leak reveals the existence of the device, with a smaller screen and less powerful processor.

The Axon 7 isn’t even out of the gates yet for Europe, yet a leak reveals plans from the Chinese manufacturer to release an Axon 7 Mini. It’s not surprising seeing as ZTE released the Axon Mini, to go alongside the Axon Elite last year. Rivalling Chinese manufacture Huawei also minimised the Huawei P9 with the release of the Huawei P9 Lite.

The mini device will sport a 5.2-inch screen a standard screen size, hardly mini and only a bit smaller than the Axon 7 (5.5-inches). Screen quality was not revealed but considering the screen size, expect a full HD panel instead of the quad HD panel see on the Axon 7.

Powering the show will be a Snapdragon 617, the same seen processor on the decent HTC One A9. Complimenting the power is 3GB of RAM with 32GB of internal memory, expandable via microSD.

On the main snapper is 16-megapixels and 8-megapixels for the front-facing camera. A decent 2,750 mAh battery is on board, enough for a full day’s use. It will reportedly weigh 153g, roughly the same as the sleek Huawei P9. Android Marshmallow will run out of the box.

Axon 7 Mini or Axon 7?

The Axon 7 was made available for pre-order in Europe just last month on Amazon, sporting powerful specs for a price well under what other flagships will charge.

The mini will most likely follow the Axon 7 a month later with a release in September, if past actions from manufacturers are to be considered. If you’re a fan of smaller devices, a little bit of patience could well and truly pay off.
