At this years Zen festival in Delhi, India, Asus took to the stage and gave more information on its recently announced tablet line, the Zenpad.

The new Asus Zenpad range comes in both 7 inch and 8 inch variants. With a leather finish on the rear and metal edging, they certainly look considerably more premium than anything the company has previously released onto the tablet market. Asus has employed a clever interchangeable cover design which allows cases to be easily swapped between devices.

In terms of specifications, the displays will both be standard HD IPS panels. They will also be powered by the latest 64-bit quad core Intel Atom x3 processor. In the camera department, there’s an 8 megapixel rear camera and two 2 megapixel front cameras which will presumably allow multiple focus points when composing snaps. Both versions will ship with version 5.0 of Android Lollipop, along with the Asus ZenUI overlay.

Asus will be carrying across many of its in-house picture processing technologies such as Tru2Life and TruVivid, which aim to increase constrast dynamics, brightness and touch responsiveness. The Zenpad will also be the first tablet range to integrate full DTS-HD surround sound, allowing those watching properly encoded videos the ability to listen to a completely lossless surround sound audio stream.

Both models will be sold in either 3G or 4G LTE versions, or optionally as a WIFI-only model for home use.
