Photos of Meizu’s newest smartphone have been supposedly leaked by company vice-president Li Nan.
The image shows the screen and some of the interior case, along with an oval home button that looks suspiciously like a fingerprint scanner. The interior electronics are very carefully not included in the image, leaving the phone’s capabilities still a matter of guess and rumour. Fortunately, we have plenty of that.
Rumoured specs?
The phone seems to have taken a lot of its exterior design from Samsung, which is oddly apt given that leaks have suggested it’ll use Samsung’s Exynos 7420 chipset, an octa-core high-speed 2.1GHz processor chip. Other hinted specs include 32GB of storage, a good 3GB of RAM, a 21-megapixel rear camera with a 5-megapixel front camera, and full HD 1080 pixels screen resolution.
The operating system has been said to be a customised version of Android Lollipop 5.1.1, the most recent version.
Also, NIUX likely won’t be the phone’s final name, as it’s more of a build code. The current best guess is that this will be the MX5 Pro, a device supposedly cancelled by Meizu.
