Travel can be stressful, especially for business people – and that’s where AHOY comes in.

AHOY is a flight booking and concierge app for opportunistic travellers looking for flexibility and reliability.

The app was founded in 2016 by Sylvia Brune, who had previously helped start-ups get off the ground in Africa.

In true start-up fashion, Sylvia started out in a room booking flights for her friends. Gaining a reputation for diligence and round-the-clock support, she became highly successful, building a 24/7 Whatsapp booking service within a few months. With the help of coders who later became her tech partners, it grew into a company worth several million pounds used by customers across 134 countries.

AHOY allows customers to book flights, even up to an hour before take-off. Customers book seats in real-time, allowing them to find the latest available seats as they arise.

Once booked, AHOY sends customers a calendar reminder, as well as details of costings and how to change the booking. At the same time, AHOY stores its customers’ travel preferences so it can remind customers of future flights or alert them to future deals.

Should travel trouble occur, AHOY has a 24-hour live chat function where any customer can talk online to a human agent who can assist them with their query.

Sylvia Brune, founder of AHOY commented:

“Frequent travel is stressful for businesspeople these days. With hundreds of things to remember and make decisions about, it’s difficult to stay on top of your game. If you haven’t travelled like this, it looks pretty fun, but it’s really a massive drain on energy levels. You’re often overtired, behind on work, and can find it hard to stay present and enjoy time off with friends and family.

“AHOY helps high performers beat travel burnout by making it super easy to get from A to B (and back again!). That way, our customers can focus on what really matters to them, even when their flights are delayed, or there’s chaos going on around them.”
