Tesco PayQwik Re-branded as Pay+ Mobile Payment Service

Tesco has today re-branded the PayQwik Mobile Payment service to Pay+, offering a limited promotional deal to users of the app.

Tesco has today launched Pay+, a new mobile payment service which will compete against the likes of Apple and Samsung. The application replaces their previous service PayQwik, which launched in August last year. Tesco is obviously aiming the service at consumers who shop at company stores, with benefits thrown in for every transaction made using Pay+. The app allows shoppers to pay for anything up to the value of £250, with all clubcard points automatically added to the users account at point of sale. To celebrate the launch, Tesco is giving customers one additional Clubcard point per £4 spent in-store.

This all sounds very familiar, as it’s essentially the same service. It seems like a simple re-branding with no real changes under the hood. Tesco has said that the decision to rebrand the digital wallet app to Tesco Pay+ “marks Tesco’s commitment to offering customers a unique shopping experience across all UK stores”.

While we can’t really comment on that, the name is definitely better than PayQwik.
