RIM has made BlackBerry Protect, the application that allows you to wirelessly backup, restore, locate or wipe your BlackBerry, available in an open beta trial to UK users.

Like similar services for Apple (MobileMe), HTC (HTC and Motorola (MOTOBLUR) devices, users can also set the phone to ring or display a message to anyone who might have picked up the device – or simply to help you find it having fallen down the back of the sofa.

All of this can be controlled via the BlackBerry Protect website.

BlackBerry Protect is free, so what are you waiting for?
