Europe’s first mobile TV ‘hotspot’ has arrived in the UK for iPad and iPhone owners. The £149.99 Tizi device hits Apple stores in time for Christmas.

The portable digital television (DVB-T) receiver runs on batteries, with enough power for up to 3.5 hours of viewing. It streams data to your iOS device by acting as a Wi-Fi hotspot.

An accompanying app allows the viewing of the Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) to see what’s on now and next, and will soon be updated to let you record TV programmes for ‘offline’ viewing on your iOS device, or via iTunes on a PC or Mac.

The app supports multitasking under iOS 4, allowing you to continue listening to a TV broadcast while using another app, and it is compatible with the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPod touch (3rd and 4th generation) and iPad.

Tizi will be available from other Apple resellers in January 2011.
