Garmin have launched a device that will allow smartphone users to project turn-by-turn sat-nav directions directly onto their windscreen, providing information such as directional arrows, speed limits and current speed.
The device will help to combat the distraction of glancing down at a phone increasing road safety and ensuring drivers keep their eyes on the road.
The device comes with a plastic film that is attached to the inside of the windscreen allowing the information to be projected onto the glass. Connecting to a mobile device via Bluetooth the system can provide the driver with voice commands via the smartphone’s speaker or by interfacing with a car stereo speaker system. The app the sat-nav system uses is available for iPhone, Android and Windows Phone 8.
The device is set to retail at $130 (roughly £86) with regional map updates costing around £20 each.
