Bang & Olufsen launch BeoPlay A3 iPad dock

High-end iPod docks are nothing new but high-end iPad docks certainly are. Timed perfectly to accompany the launch of a new native Spotify iPad app, the BeoPlay A3 iPad dock is an imposing slab of classic design.

It’s not as flat as it looks (so no wall mounting), shaped like a triangular wedge of cheese but it does boost the tiny iPad speakers by adding a 2 inch woofer for deeper bass and adjusts the speaker sound depending on whether you use the iPad in landscape or portrait mode.

A built-in battery provides 5 hours of playback and while we don’t have a UK release date just yet, expect the BeoPlay A3 to cost around £450. Measurements clock-in at 36 x 21 x 7 cm and the BeoPlay weighs 1.25 kg. It only comes in black at the moment, so white iPad owners should be aware that there’s going to be a two tone look while using the device, rather than jet black.

You can find out more about the BeoPlay A3 at the Bang & Olufsen website.
