The first Windows Phone from ZTE was announced in London last night as ZTE hosted a launch bash headlined by Professor Green.
The ZTE Tania offers a 800 x 480 pixel 4.3inch screen, 4GB of storage, 1 Ghz processor, 512MB RAM and a 5 megapixel camera. Aiming to introduce Windows Phone to lower price phone contracts between £10-£20, ZTE is set to offer the lowest priced Windows Phone handset in the UK.
“Having ZTE join the Windows Phone family is great news. Their expertise will be crucial in delivering Windows Phone to new and different customers. We look forward to continuing and developing our relationship with ZTE in the future,” said Leila Martine, director of Windows Phone UK.
The only issue that hampers the budget phone is the lack of internal storage – Windows Phone doesn’t support external memory cards, so you’re stuck with 4GB to play with and – in reality – a chunk of that will be taken up by the operating system itself. If you don’t mind having a small amount of music on your phone and your priority is a slick OS with great social features, the ZTE Tania could be for you. Expect to see a full review soon.
The ZTE Tania is expected to hit the shelves on 13th February with a £249 PAYG price tag.
