Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi is expected to ramp up its smartphone shipments to 25-30 million units in the third quarter of 2017, according to an industry estimate.
Strategy Analytics, hailing from the USA, calculated that the total volume of Xiaomi shipments in Q2 2017 reached 23.2 million units this year, up 58% from the same quarter last year. The success can be attributed largely down to Xiaomi releasing lots of new smartphone models with many sub-models. The wealth of competitively prices handsets available to the user means that the company is once again using the deadly combination of branding power and bargain prices.
Consider the new Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A, which comes in no less than three variants. The cheapest retails for just ¥699 (£81), while the top-end 4GB RAM model costs ¥1199 (£140.56). The Redmi Note 5A is a bargain handset which crams in a Snapdragon 425 and solid 5.5-inch 1280×720 screen.
The company is also expected to release the upcoming Mi Note 3 phablet very soon. There’s also the possibility of a Xiaomi Mi6 with the Snapdragon 836, a turbocharged version of the 835.
