Direct Save has launched a telco price calculator which compares its prices with the four major telecom providers.

BT, Sky, TalkTalk and Virgin “dominated” the United Kingdom telecoms market, the company said, with 90% of the fixed line and broadband market.   The companies’s competitors were not doing enough to entice customers away, Direct Save said, and more had to be done to prove to the UK public “who are naturally resistant to change, that a better and far more cost-effective service is on offer elsewhere.”

Hence, the price calculator, the company said, which allowed customers of the big four to enter in the information of their current payment plan and average amount of calls in a week, in order to find out how much they could save by switching.

Direct Save said 82% of its new customers saved at least £150 in the first year.   The calculator would be updated on a regular basis, the company said.

Chief executive Stavros Tsolakis said the company was the first to put a calculator on its website because it knew it was the cheapest.

“The big 4 have dominated the market with overinflated prices for far too long ‘ it’s now time for a change.”
