iPhone 3G S goes on sale (and so does Nokia's N97)

Today saw the launch of two long awaited products - Apple's iPhone 3G S and Nokia's N97. Apple is selling the iPhone with a connection only, while Nokia has opted to sell the N97 SIM-free for the first week - before opening it up for subsidised connections.
Here are some pictures of London's busy Oxford Street and Regent Street this morning.
O2's store opened almost two hours early, at 0802. There was a fairly steady crowd of people queueing patiently, hoping there would be no computer glitches to delay things like the launch of the original iPhone.
The Apple Store on Regent Street was packed with eager customers, bloggers, tech journalists and no doubt a bunch of hired-in people to make up the numbers. It's the Apple way - we know, you know it; deal with it!
The first person to get his iPhone 3G S was happy to show it off, and surprisingly didn't decide to smash it to pieces and video it for YouTube. That's progress.
Over the road at the Nokia Store, it seems that staff forgot to open early for the few people queuing outside - although we're sure we caught a glimpse of a Nokia lanyard and wonder if these were the staff that were supposed to be opening up. Forgot your keys did we?
