Sky Mobile TV now available on 3

Sky Mobile TV is now available to 3 subscribers in the UK, but you'll need to make sure you've got a suitable Internet add-on to avoid huge bills.

The mobile television service, which is streamed to the handset over the 3G network gives 3 customers the chance to enjoy a range of live television channels, including Sky News, Sky Sports, Sky Sports News, At The Races and CNN.

To sign up, customers should go to the "Planet 3" link on their phone. Video will be streamed from a dedicated server.

BSkyB General manager of mobile David Gibbs commented: "We are excited that 3 UK customers can now watch the latest breaking news from the RTS award winning Sky News; the best of the FA Premier League, UEFA Champions League, Premiership Rugby Union or Test Match cricket from Sky Sports, 3 UK customers need not miss a minute of the action."

3's Director of product management Fergal Walker said: "With more and more customers using their phones to access data rich services on the internet such as music and TV, we're delighted to welcome Sky's successful mobile TV channels. We know sport and news are really popular on mobile TV, so offering the likes of Sky Sports and Sky News to our customers ensures we continue to press ahead in delivering the best mobile internet services."

Because the TV service is hosted by Sky, data will not be free, so users will need to consider one of the Internet add-ons to keep the cost down.

In effect, a subscription to Sky Mobile TV would need to be combined with a £5 Internet add-on, or the data charges could become excessive.
