Intel vs Symbian. The war of words has begun.

Earlier today, we were told that Intel and Nokia are to form an alliance to produce a next-generation platform for smartphones, netbooks and a new Internet tablet. Shortly after, we were emailed a report that gave seven reasons as to why open source would kill Symbian. This report was published on a site that was bought by Intel at the start of June. Symbian has now come out with a rebuttal...
Possibly the most interesting part of this is that Nokia owns Symbian, so any alliance with Intel to produce a rival open-source OS, based on Linux, is forming a direct competitor to the Symbian Foundation.
Is this all a storm in a tea cup or a serious issue for all open-source platforms? Is it the utopia that we all dream of, or something that is allowing too much competition - with casualties of war a certainty?
