Google Translate now reads handwriting, 7 more languages

Translate is Google’s app that helps you convert text from over 70 different languages into English (or your language of choice). Today has seen its first update in over a year, adding some key new features to the iOS service.

The most interesting thing to note is support for handwriting, which is compatible with 49 of those languages. You’ll be able to scribe in a word and have it translated for you, which is a pretty neat feature. Over on the admin side of things, a further seven languages have been added, including Bosnian, Cebuano, Hmong, Javanese, Khmer, Lao and Marathi. There’s also a few tweaks to the user interface to help you manage.

Translate is currently free on the app store. This latest update brings it to version 2.0.0.
