HTC launches two Facebook phones

HTC has finally announced not one, but two, phones with Facebook accessible at the touch of a button. The HTC ChaCha and HTC Salsa offer two different styles of phone, each built on the Android 2.3.3 operating system.

The HTC ChaCha comes with a QWERTY keyboard, while the HTC Salsa is a touch-only device. Each have a dedicated Facebook button at the bottom, which can flash to notify you of updates, new messages and chat requests.

HTC Sense has been enhanced to fully incorporate Facebook within the core user interface, in a similar fashion to the latest INQ Mobile Cloud Touch and Cloud Q. Although fully endorsed by Facebook, neither model can be called an official ‘Facebook Phone’. Facebook has stated that it will not produce its own Facebook branded handset.

New features include showing photographs and status updates of Facebook users when you call them, or they call you, along with Facebook messages and conversations integrated within the phone and shown in your text and email inbox with other conversations.

The HTC ChaCha (114.4×64.6×10.7mm, 120g) has a 2.6-inch, 480×320 pixel, touchscreen and a 5-megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash. Upon taking a photo or video, and pressing the intelligent Facebook button, you are able to quickly upload and share your media without going through loads of menus.

The ChaCha is powered by a 600MHz processor and has 512MB RAM and 512MB of integrated storage with a memory card slot and 1,250mAh battery.

The HTC Salsa (109.1×58.9×12.3mm, 120g)does away with the keyboard, allowing it to get a larger 3.4-inch screen with 320×480 pixels from the capacitive touchscreen. It also has a 5-megapixel camera, with both also having afront-facing VGA-resolution camera for video calling.

The Salsa has the same processor/memory specification but comes with a larger 1,520mAh battery.

Both models will be released in Q2 and will be available free on 20-25 per month contracts.

This integration is very interesting (Android y Facebook), but as it is not official Facebook phone all the features of those phones are the same the ones we can find in another htc phones.
