HISTORY Egypt: Engineering an Empire game review

Written by: Chris James

The world of the ancient Egyptians comes to iPhone in the form of HISTORY Egypt: Engineering an Empire. This turn-based strategy title takes a lot of inspiration from Sid Meier’s Civilization series, with kingdom expansion and tactical rival relationships a must.

A huge single-player campaign pits you against some of the Egyptian world’s most famous past figureheads, as you attempt to build an army and wipe out the opposition. It’s not as simple as that, however, as gathering your troops takes time and money. It’s a balancing act between acting friendly with your enemies until the time is right, then unleashing fury on their land.

Two players can battle on the same iPhone via hotseat multiplayer, which is great fun, although local wireless multiplayer would have been a lot more accessible. For strategy enthusiasts and more casual players alike, this is imperial stuff.
